What are the conventions of music videos from this genre?

The genre of this is song follows the hip hop and RNB market. In hip hop videos, there are usually some
links between the music and lyrics. In most, it is a sample as they show an object in what they are
referring to. this is because narrative is not a huge thing in hip hop videos, so the need for these
objects to appear links the video to the song .
Camera shots- there are many close up in hip hop videos. These are useful for establishing the artist,
but they also establish the power of importance of the artist.
Fashion- men usually wear old school expesive brands and a sparkle of bling.
Fashion women depending on what the music video is about tend to wear exposed clothing with a lot
of makeup .

I will be making my music video a narrative and I will follow most of the conventions that are given
above and are seen in the original music video however I will portray and different style in my video.

Lighting
Throughout my music video I will be using a mix between high key lighting and low key lighting as this represents
that my music video as being a sad story but watching other relationships in the high key light.

Locations
In my music video , the location of my music video will be set in a variety of places . the song consist of a story
between a couple and throughout the story the singer (myself ) will be include whist the story is told. The first
section will be located at a flat above Hummel days in Henley on Thames, the whole story will be located in this
town.

Research
What music videos have you watched to research your genre?
I have researched other narrative RNB music videos to see how I can make my
music video stand out from the others and have unique style to it. I researched
popular narrative rnb songs such as superhuman by Chris brown and Neyo I just
cant stop.

How have these videos influenced the decisions made? I

I looked at how Chris brown and Neyo in how they portrayed their
music video in a style to make there music video stand out. I did
this so I gather as a could gather as much information before
filming my music video so I make my video unique and stand out.

Yes it is very clear that this music video has a emotional love meaning. For example the

each other more. This is also a very clear convention for songs in the RNB/HIP HOP

in my music video , the visuals relate clearly with the song because It my music video is
narrative . the lyrics in the song also make it very clear to the viewers in what the song is
about.

My music video will be begin with the male actor waking up

throughout the night and seeing a note by his bed , as this scene
begins the music in the background will begin to play with the
words Yeah, I woke up in the middle of the night
And I noticed my girl wasn't by my side
Coulda sworn I was dreaming' For her I was feeling
So I had to take a little ride this verse consist of the male actor
reacting to the note of his girlfriend leaving and then going for walk
. whilst the narrative is happening there will be a singer included
singing someone the verses and also telling the story.
Throughout the song when the actor is walking he sees couples
holding hands and his day gets worse and worse. There are many
scenes ,camera angles shots that I will include In my music video.
When the camera goes to the singer I will be using a plain white
back ground with a mid shot included. I will edited the shots so the
everything is bright ( I will be using high key lighting) and the actor
is dark and sad. ( I will be showing his emotion by the outfit he
wears)
