General Focus of Plan:Plan our curriculum based on the interests of the students. We will use the
information we learn through our professional development Projects of study classes, to plan meaningful
curriculum for our students.
Specific Goal(s):
1. We will use the recommended activities provided on the Teaching Strategies GOLD website to plan
meaninful activities in all areas of development that will help to collect data for the assessment.
2. We will work to focus our planning on projects of study, based on student interest.
3. Based on the data collected during our first GOLD checkpoint, teacher has identified three students who
are scoring below their age appropriate level in the areas of literacy. Teacher will work one on one with
those students on letter identification and writing their name. By the end of the year, 80% of our students
will be scoring in their age appropriate color band in the area of literacy.
Connection to the needs of the teacher, the Iowa teaching standards, and the student achievement goals of the
attendance center (Building Professional Development Plan) and the school district (CSIP):
Needs of the teacher: To better meet QPPS teaching standards, and to better meet the needs of our students.
The student achievement goals will be better met by being able to utilize data to make instructional decisions.
We will be using Creative Curriculum
Proposed Strategies / Activities:
Teaching Strategies GOLD Mighty Minutes
Teaching Strategies GOLD Recommended Activities
Creative Curriculum
-Each of these aligns with the objectives of the Creative Curriculum. We will use these activities to plan and to
assess in multiple areas of development. By using these activities, we will be able to collect data on multiple
children in a more time effective manner. We will choose activities that relate to the Project of Study.
-Teacher will work individually with students on letter identification and name writing. Teacher will focus first on
the letters in the childs name, and then once master, work on other letters of the alphabet.
