The Design Apparel and Production students will have one night to
show off three years of training for
one of the most influential nights of
their college career.
These collections are not only a
capstone class commitment, but
take years of training and preparation so that students can produce
their best work for friends, family,
and other designers to see. Beginning from their sophomore year,
students begin to prepare their

These students get to experience s

first-hand the work and planning

that goes into implementing a successful fashion show production.
Anna Welch, a student in the
Fashion Show Production and
Event Planning class, is studying
merchandising, but is still able to
participate in the show.

Being a part of the garment committee, Welch gets to decide which

garments fit best on each model.
Being in the garment committee,
we have 27 different models to fit
and figure out which garments look
best on each model. We will also
be the ones
to transport
the clothes
to the
event, and
make sure
they go to
the right
model,
says Welch.

Starting in the fall semester of their
senior year, students have the
opportunity to choose their target
market, concept,
and inspiration
for their spring
line.
They will create
about 20 sketches that will then
get edited and
narrowed down
into four different
looks.

The collections are incredibly
diverse, varying from childrens,

These students not only have to

create the garments from scratch,
they have to present the costing of
their collections, present technical
packages, and complete every

process that would go into a real

production.
With all the work put on the seniors shoulders, a Fashion Show
Production and Event Planning
class has been made to help bring
everything together for the fashion
show.
Made up of design, merchandising,
and interior design students, these
artists create all the behind the
scenes work of the fashion show.
Split into four different committees,
they are charged with planning and
executing the show. From raising
money and selling tickets, to model
calls and staging, this class is
responsible for putting on the best
show they can to complement the
collections being displayed.
Each of the designers have grown
into professionals of their field, and
are encouraged to intern for designers that inspire them.
There will also be a silent auction
taking place before the fashion
show, where audience members
can bid on the latest fashion items
provided by sponsors from all over
the state.
