In 2008, the IOA received a gift from alumni Michael DeShane and Keren Brown Wilson. Their goal was to fund research, education, and service on
the topic of vulnerable elders who live in urban communities, both locally and globally. This symposium presents the work completed thus far on the
local aspect of the initiative which focuses on living arrangements and supportive services for low -income older adults in Portland. We invite you to
take part in shaping the work we do over the next 18 months of this initiative including developing new research, bringing this topic into the classroom,
and collaborating with community partners. If you are interested in the housing needs of low -income seniors, how vulnerable seniors stay in their
homes, the local supportive service network, or community-based learning, please plan to attend this session.
