Standard #6: Assessment. The teacher understands and uses multiple methods of
assessment to engage learners in their own growth, to monitor learner progress, and to
guide the teacher's and learner's decision making.

I chose to use a teacher created student behavior self-evaluation worksheet as

evidence for standard #6 assessment. This worksheet was used at the end of quarter three
as a way for students to self-evaluate themselves. It was looked over by us and then
placed in the students portfolio to take home. The students portfolio includes all work
that has been turned in during quarter three, tests, projects, report cards, and a selfevaluation.
This self-evaluation was created in order to see how the student feels about the
work that he or she does in and out of the classroom. It also is a way for students to tell
us what they need to work on, how they can improve, and what we can do as teachers to
help them. Many of the statements follow the schools six pillars that all students must
demonstrate. The schools six pillars are trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness,
caring, and citizenship. Students were also required to sign and date this self-evaluation.
This ensures that students stand by their evaluations and behavior goals that they set.
By having students complete this self-evaluation, as teachers we are able to
modify our lesson plans to fit the needs of the students. Also, students were given the
opportunity to tell us what we could improve on or how we could better help them.
Assessments are a way for students and teachers to monitor the learning progress of
students. Then, using those assessments to modify teaching and learning.
I feel that I met standard 6, assessment because this self-evaluation is a way for
students to self-assess their behaviors and goals. Students must be able to be honest and
truthful when completing self-assessments in order to provide students with the help that
they need. We will be using these self-assessment results in quarter four in order to help
better students learning. For example, a few students had mentioned that they wanted to

have more small group activities with the teacher. Therefore, we will be definitely
adding more small group activities with the teacher into our lesson plans.
