Purpose: to tell a story that entertains and/or makes a


comment on life
Orientation
Description of setting
Introduction of characters

Complication
A problem or issue arises that drives the story forward and engages the
readers interest
e.g. The teenagers think that their parents will be out until late but they arrive
home unexpectedly

Resolution
The ending of the story. How the problem or issue is resolved or sorted out.

Coda (Optional)

Statement of a moral or some important understanding that comes from the story
