Each student will be equipped with their notebook, chart paper if needed, pencil, eraser,
calculator, and a rope knotted to represent meters.
Students are required to show their work in solving the treasure hunt questions, and use
a calculator if specified.
At the end of each treasure hunt there will be two items for the participant to find:
1. Words of wisdom from the student who designed the hunt
2. Some candy
3. Find the side length of this square by creating a larger square. (graph paper with
the square drawn should be provided). Walk the side length in meters to your left.
4. Find the hypotenuse length of a right angle triangle which has leg lengths of 2m
and 5m. Walk this distance in meters
5. Find the diameter length of a circle with an area of 8m2. Walk this distance in the
direction of your math classroom.
Words of wisdom: You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose. But you cant
pick your friends nose.
Marking Scheme:

Timeline:
Feb. 13 2014: Assignment is distributed. Some time will be given in class to plan.
Additional planning in the school can take place on Mondays and Thursdays
afterschool until 4:00pm.

Feb. 21st 2014: Treasure hunt instructions and answer sheet are due in class.
Feb. 27th 2014: Treasure hunt time! The treasure hunts will be set up and each
student will be assigned to complete someones hunt.
