    Do the characters seem
    real? Are they consistent?
    Describe a character who
    stands out.

    Does the plot engage or
    amuse you? Is it a
    convincing story/ in depth/
    shallow/ powerful /
    sentimental? Is the ending
    satisfying? Comment on the
    writers style.
    What is the novels theme?
    Is it conveyed effectively?

    Comment on the style of
    illustration (simplistic / lavish
    / childlike ). Do the
    illustrations add to the
    meaning of the story or do
    they seem separate from it?

    recommend it? Why?
    Restate your contention
    without restating your
    evidence.
