Goals:
PreK students will learn about different animals found on a farm.
PreK students will learn about different characteristics of animals
on the farm.
Objectives:
Students will be able to create their own farm using paint at the
art easel using a variety of different colored paint.
Students will be able to identify the different animals on a farm
using the Early Science app to sort animals into categories with
teacher guided assistance.
Students will be able to write their own farm story using a variety
of different tools create their story.
Students will be able to identify at least 3 different farm animals
using technology.

Anticipatory Set Activity: Big Red Barn by Margret Wise Brown and
animal powerpoint. Read the book Big Red Barn making sure to point
out characteristics about the animals in the story. After reading the
story show the powerpoint with the various types of farm animals and
have the children describe what they see and a little bit about each
animal based on the story.
Procedure:
Have 7 centers set up that the children can go to. When the children
go to each station, they will have to highlight their name on a piece of
paper when they finish an activity so that the teacher can see which
child went where and if they completed the activity.
Center 1: Computer. Children will be on the following website:

Children will be required to count the different animals on the website.
Center 2: Ipad. Students will use the Sorting for Early Science App.
They will be sorting animals based on whether they are farm animals
or not. The teacher will be at this table with the children to answer
questions and check for understanding. Students will be called up one
at a time to complete this activity.
Center 3: Sensory Table. There will be dirt in the sensory table with
tractors for the students to roll over the dirt. This will help to develop
fine motor skills.
Center 4: Easel. Students will be given red, black, pink, green, brown,
and yellow paint that they can use to create a farm scene.
Center 5: Drawing/Writing. Students will have crayons, colored pencils,
and markers available to draw a story about a farm. They will also add

writing and write about what they drew. There will also be scissors,
glue, and construction paper that the children can cut out and glue on
to the picture.
Center 6: Dramatic Play. Children will have a farm prop box that will
include stuffed animals (cows, pigs, chicks, and sheep), farmers hat,
and overalls.
Center 7: Floor Play. Children will have a red barn with people, tractors,
and farm animals to play with on the floor.
