Lesson vignette & Timeline (90 min)

Students will be asked, What is something that you would like to do, but think
is out of your reach? They will write down a few answers and choose one of
them to illustrate and talk about. Then they will pair up and be the annoying
student for each other asking why to every statement the other one says.
They will use iPads to video record these interviews. They will then brainstorm
different ways to accomplish their idea. This will help them think through what
they mean when they say, for example, I want to fly. Could their dream of
flying be achieved by parasailing, ziplining, or hangliding? If their impossible
is now possible, they will write out the steps to make it happen. After their
interview and illustrations are finished, they will then each create a 2 min.
iMovie of their own interview (being the one answering the questions) and share
with the class their transformation in thinking.
15 min Ask question and have students write their answers in their art
journals accompanied by illustration.
5 min Demonstration of interview and annoying student questions
20 min Students will pair up and be the annoying student for each

10 min Students will re-examine their original answers and correct
their statements as needed; writing out the steps to achieve
their goal
25 min Students will create their 2 min iMovie & post to class website
15 min Students will share with the class their original statement and
how it changed throughout the class period. They may show
drawings that helped them reach their conclusions.

transformation from their original statements of I cant do this to I
