OBJECTIVE

The objective of this report is to characterise a plate with a hole

when it is subjected under tension the results are analyzed using
the software ADINA. The plate has a thickness of 1mm. The
objective is to also demonstrate the body sheet feature of ADINA
M/MPS (the ADINA Molder, based on the Parasolid geometry
kernel). .

Theory

The main assumption made in the experiment is the stress

analysis which is limited to the linear elastic range and the
material is assumed to be linear elastic and isotropic. The stress
is a load divided by the area. Without the hole the nominal stress
would = Force/Area. The resulting stress concentration (SCF) is
given a maximum stress at hole over nominal stress based on
gross section.
SCF = Maximum Stress at Hole/ Nominal Stress Based on Gross
Cross-section.
The maximum stress adjacent at the hole is max = k net = K
(P/Anet) k is the stress concentration factor which is the size of
the bar and the diameter of the hole. Basically if you have a
smaller radius the results its higher stress.

Results

The results below show the simulation I got for the experiment i
did in ADINA.
