To Whom It May Concern:

It gives me great pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Charlee Sabrowski. She is a
senior at the Academy for Math, Engineering, and Science (AMES). I have been involved in
Charlees educational journey in a variety of ways over the past three years. I have been her
instructor, and I have also been a member of a team of advisors that has worked closely with her
as she has prepared to make the transition into college. I feel I have a unique and informed
perspective on her characteristics, attributes, and the challenges she has overcome to arrive at
where she is today. Charlee made the choice to attend AMES as a freshman because she was
motivated and wanted to maximize her high school experience. AMES is an early college high
school that is partnered with the University of Utah. Everything we do at AMES is done by
design to help students succeed in college. As a senior she is taking University of Utah classes
taught by college professors. She has also been able to participate in traditional high school
activities and programs through our host high school, Cottonwood. She is very driven and has
done everything possible to prepare for the next level of her education.
Charlees transcript will testify of the degree to which she has challenged herself. She has taken
honors courses since she was a freshman. It will also demonstrate her academic achievement.
While her transcript is extremely impressive, it does not tell the whole story. She has reached a
high level of achievement while being extremely well rounded. She has been a member of the
Cottonwood debate team. She is member of our student council. She also has actively
participated in our HOSA club. All of these activities are very time consuming, but Charlee finds
ways to balance extra-curricular programs with the demands of the classroom. This ability to
prioritize and sacrifice will serve her well as she transitions to college. She has also given back
to the community in impressive ways. She volunteers at the Huntsman Cancer Center, and seeks
to make the lives of others better during their most trying times.
It is extremely rare to find a student like Charlee. Her achievements in the classroom are
impressive, but they are not nearly as significant as what she does in the community. She

continually strives to give her best, and she has the admirable trait of lifting others. I have no
doubt that she will be successful in college. Furthermore, I believe that any campus would
greatly benefit from what Charlee Sabrowski has to offer. She is passionate, thoughtful,
animated, dependable, and unique. I sincerely hope that you will give her application serious
consideration. If you have questions or you would like clarification on anything pertaining to her
behaviors in or out of the classroom please do not hesitate to contact me. I proudly and fully
recommend Charlee Sabrowski to you and your institution without any qualifications.
Sincerely,

Gary Bigelow, M.A.
