Learning Objective: Students will be able to recognize community workers


that use shapes on a daily basis. When given street sings from the
community students will be able to name shapes and the meanings of those
signs.
Alignment with Standards:
EEDA: Community
Developmental Appropriateness or Cross-curricular connections:
Students will working with and in their community. This assignment prepares
them for that. The students will be able to create the similar signs they see
all around the streets they live on. They will need to know the meaning of
those signs and why they are important. They will also have the knowledge
to identify community workers and how shapes are used in everyday life.

with a read aloud about
safety signs and a
video to go along with

of community workers
and their materials and
how the signs are

small quiz based on the
information given from
the video and the book.

Students will be graded
on the number of
questions they
correctly answer off of
the information that
has been given. The
worksheet will be
informative and used
as a tool and a little
review before the quiz
is given.

Accommodations: Accommodations will be made for the following


students needs. Information presented in multiple ways. Pictures and review
before quiz is given.

Invite students to the carpet (if they are not there already)
Tell the students about the video they are going to watch
Show the 2 short videos
Go over the worksheet and tell the students the correct answers
Ask for any questions
Hand out the quiz
Collect the quiz
Grade the quiz

Activity Analysis:
1. Students will see o videos. The videos have a lot of the same content.
What one video may not have the other one does? The videos are
there to give the students another view other than the teachers. This
will give them a chance to see how shapes are constantly used, and
who uses them. The video is entertaining, stimulating. There will be
technology used. The students will have to watch the video using the
Smart board.
2. For this activity the student will take a quiz. The quiz is to be sure the
students understood the obje3ctive. It is a way of checking their
knowledge. It will give you the chance to see if there needs to be
another review. There will be no technology because it is an
assessment.
