Subject: United States Marine Corps

Dear RWS 1301 ladies and gentlemen:

The Marines are the first to fight and exclusively to deploy anywhere in the globe within six
hours of their assigned mission. The U.S. Marines and its organizational structure are built to
provide outstanding and fast response by sea, land, or air. Also, Marines develop a great sense of
unity in taking care of one another in the battlefield as well as in the community. This Task Force
was officially designed by Congress and is dated back to November 10, 1775. This corporation
has fought through a series of different battles, and gained different nicknames and traditions
along the way. For example, it is the smallest organization within the U.S. military branches, and
Marines called themselves, The Few. The Proud.
The United States Marine Corps (USMC) specializes in rapid and effective missions that include:
amphibious assault, tactical recovery of personnel, and non-combat evacuation operations, just to
name a few. This force conducts mechanized, combined-arms operations and other expeditionary
operations in order to support combat engagement plans and contingency operations. Its
personnel started with 235 Marines in 1775, however during the 1860s there was a total of 2,384
Marines. By 1945 the personnel increased to 85,965 Marines, and right before the 9/11 attacks
took place Marines counts were 171,154 total. During this current decade the USMC started
with 204,153 Marines, all these Leathernecks are distributed into what is called Marine Corps
Operating Forces, and it is broken into four categories. The first one is the Marine Corps Forces,
containing all ground, aviation, and logistics units, ready to deploy when is told to do so.
Secondly, the Marine Corps Reserve, which provides aid to active personnel during the time of
war or national emergency. Thirdly, the Security Forces and anti-terrorism units that protect key
installations, vessels, units, and assets of the United States government, and last but not least the
Special Activity Forces only focuses on guarding U.S. embassies around the globe.
This organization focuses on providing the best quality and efficient solution to a problem.
Therefore, Marines are trained in the hardest conditions that Mother Nature can provide. It does
not matter if it is in cold weather more than 6,000 feet above sea level covered in snow, or if it is
in the desert with a temperature of 120 degrees Fahrenheit, Marines still do it. In order to get
prepared for the worst after all those weeks of training, Marines are ready for the next mission.
This warriors are instill from day one with leadership traits and principles that will help to be
loyal, to have initiative and integrity when making sound decisions and setting the example for
others to emulate. Marines outreach to the community by visiting high schools or Universities
within the society, they provide helpful information about the Corps, and also try to make people
aware of the communitys potential to be safe and prosperous.
Every year the Marine Corps Reserve in El Pasos community and throughout the Nation,
conducts an event called Toys for Tots focusing on inviting the community to support and give
brand new toys for families with less economic opportunities. The United States Marine Corps
website is www.marines.com. It contains information in how to become a Marine, the impact this
organization has have around the globe, and true stories about Marines. This organization also
manages and provides information throughout social media, for example Facebook, Twitter and

YouTube. In order to contact a Marine recruiter, one must go to the office in the location
