groups,studentswilldoabrainstormingweborchartansweringthefollowingquestions:Haveyoueverworkedout
before?Whataresomeofthedifferentworkoutsyouknowabout?Whatkindofknowledgedoyouhaveabout
workingout?
ExpectationsforLearningandBehaviour:Theexpectationsforlearningforthestudentsarethatstudentsare
participatingandbeingengagedintheallclasses.Studentswillbegivenalotofindividualtimetoworkoutand

experimentwiththedifferentmachinesandfreeweights.AtthistimeIwillaskstudentstothinkaboutanyfitness
goalsthattheyhaveandsomeofthepeoplethatmayhavesimilargoalsandthattheycanworkoutwith.Also,
studentswillneedtopickworkoutbuddiesinordertoensurethatthereisapersonalwaysspottingthemaswellas
anotherpersontosocializewithandbeawareofsafetyandsurroundings.
Assessments/Differentiation:Forthisclass,therewillbenoformalassessmentfortheactivityasstudentsarejust
giventimetoworkoutandexperimentandthinkaboutwhattheywanttodofortherestoftheunit.Thisisan
introductoryunit.However,Icanstilluseobservationtoensurestudentsarepracticingsafetyandgoodengagement
throughouttheclass.
Motivation:Themotivationforthisclasswillbepositivereinforcement(givingpositivefeedback,showing
techniques,acknowledgingstudentsuccess)andmodeling(beingaphysicalactivityleaderandmodelingbehaviourto
thestudents.
