article here mainly talks about the past of segregation and racism. It
explains and describes what the African Americans had to go through to get
there freedom.Like the quote here The only way to guarantee freedom for
formerly enslaved African Americans was to grant them the full privileges
and responsibilities of citizenship. The right to vote became the critical step
in protecting their civil liberties. It would also be the first of their freedoms
taken away. This quote here shows that African Americans were only
guaranteed some freedom and if they went through some hardships and
battles first.

This article's main point is about how Americans freed from british and then
the Americans kept slaves. began taking shape. However, freedom was not
extended to the black slaves. Even Thomas Jefferson,, who authored the
Declaration of Independence in 1776 and included the famous phrase that
"all men are created equal," came from a wealthy Virginia planter's family
and was himself a slave owner. In fact, in the late twentieth century it was
discovered that Jefferson probably had six children with a slave woman,
Sally Hemings. He freed all six of the children, but never Hemings herself.
