Literary devices are found throughout writing. It is important to
recognize when this happens and the purpose behind it. It will also be

Teacher Will:
How will you
model/explain/demonstrate all
knowledge/skills required of the
objective?
What types of visuals will you
use?
How will you address
misunderstandings or common
student errors?
How will you check for
understanding?

behavioral expectations?
Is there enough detail in this
section so that another person
could teach it?

Student Will:
What will students be doing to
actively capture and process the
new material?
How will students be engaged?

I will model and explain

literary devices both through
myself and through the use of
the videos

I will use videos as well as the

document camera

I will have the student explain

rationale behind the mistake
and then correct it
immediately with the help of
their partner or the class

I will be checking for

understanding as we go, but I
will check for everyones
understanding with the post
test

I will explain before I start the

videos that I wont show any
more clips if we cant handle

The students will watch and

listen to the clips.
The students will work in groups
to compose examples of literary

of the class work while my MT will be helping me behind the scenes.
Grouping (Explain your rationale for each one that you utilize
throughout the lesson):
Whole group
* partners
small group
* independent
Bell Ringer Independent KWL illustrates individual student learning
Lecture Whole Group discussion will be a review and serve to start
conversation
Activity Partners collaboration to compose examples of literary devices
Activity Whole Group students will view and comment on classmate work
Post Test Independent I need to see which students are still struggling
individually
Differentiation Strategies:
What accommodations/modifications will you include for specific
students, including (but not limited to) English Language Learners,
Special Education students, and those who need additional
challenges?
o write student need in one column, and how you will
differentiate instruction in the next
Student Need:

Differentiation Strategy:

Special Education/504

I have assigned specific groups so that

children with special needs and/or 504 plans
will be paired with another student to assist

Closing/Student Reflection/Real-life Connections:
