The Boys of Summer

By Brian DAngelo

Nobody on the road

Nobody on the beach
I feel it in the air
The summer's out of reach
Empty lake, empty streets
The sun goes down alone
The Boys of Summer by Don Henley
So this is it. Weve made it through June and
July, through Memorial Day and
Independence Day, into the dog days of
summer. Time to get your last beach days and
barbeques in before the kids go back to
school, and the leaves on the trees begin to
change colors.
Dont worry, its not all bad. The Red Sox are
in control of the American League East and
look poised to go deep into the MLB playoffs,
and the Patriots are ready to begin their title
defense after beating the Seattle Seahawks in
Super Bowl XLIX way back in February.
Oh, and there will be music. There will
always be music, you can count on that. This
months concert calendar is jam-packed with
shows for fans of all discernable tastes.
Whether you prefer to kick off your month

with Van Halen at the Xfinity Center, keep

the summer alive with Australian hard-rock
legends AC/DC at Gillette Stadium, or relax
with Willie Nelson at the Blue Hills Bank
Pavilion, there is something for everybody.
Along with Augusts extensive lineup of
shows, we are still anticipating new album
releases from Rush, Fleetwood Mac, and
Guns N Roses.
So this month, instead of getting depressed
about the upcoming change in season, enjoy
every last sunny 80 degree day that we get.
Perfect that golf swing youve been working
on all season, take a weekend trip to the North
or South Shore. Spend a couple of days in the
lakes region in Maine, or camp out on the
banks of the Saco River in New Hampshire.
We are blessed to live in an area where all of
these outdoor activities are at our fingertips.
Make the best of August doing whatever
floats your boat. Literally just floating on a
boat sounds about perfect to me, just
remember to make the best of the weather
while we have it. Im sure none of us need
reminding of Bostons record setting winter of
2015.
