Fourth Semester Placement: Leisure World- Brampton Woods
Mixed Diagnosis Floor.
Worked collaboratively within a nursing team in order to provide
effective care to residents in the home. Acknowledged for acquiring
effective communication skills with residents, family members and team
members. Safe medication administration was displayed while
administering medication for the whole unit, CNO policies and
procedures were reinforced throughout practice.
Acquired Competencies: Therapeutic communication, family centredcare, effective body mechanics, safe medication administration,
supervision over the floor and leadership within a team.
Third Semester Placement: Credit Valley Trillium
Complex Continuing Care/Rehab.
Worked effectively with preceptor and team providing comprehensive
client care to complex patients. Therapeutic communication was built
on and displayed to patients and family members who were required
emotional support. Respiratory specific skills were obtained and
perfected while dealing with several tracheostomy patients.
Acquired Competencies: Positive therapeutic communication, aseptic
technique, respiratory maintenance, simple and complex dressings, safe
medication administration and discharge planning.
Second Semester Placement: Malton Village Long Term Care Center
Mixed Diagnosis Floor.

Worked within a team of nurses and PSWs in order to assist residents


with daily care needs. Assisted residents with feeding when necessary
as well as aided in the service of meals. Collaborated with RPN in order
to give medication safely, effectively and in a timely manor.
Acquired Competencies: Basic physical assessment skills, safe
medication administration, therapeutic communication and assistance
of ADLs.
