"Ensuring women's access to justice crucial to gender equality -- activists." Jordan Times

International Womens Day, this article was written about a global conference that was
held to discuss justices role in gender equality. The author shows how the current
Middle Eastern government has left some serious legal gaps between men and women.
This article quotes multiple women activist leaders and their opinions on how to achieve
equality and the main areas of concern in the fight against discrimination. Although many
voices were heard, they all agree upon the general consensus that gender equality in the
legal and justice system is crucial.

This years main focus was workplace harassment in the media sector. The IFJ fully

supports equality in the office and encourages companies to follow UN regulations to
avoid workplace abuse and increase the amount of women viewed in the media. Along

dramatically across the globe, this article helps shed light to the multiple areas that still
need improvement. In a mentioned study involving 143 countries, nearly 90 percent of
the countries had at least one restriction on womens economic rights. This article points
out that many gender equality laws have been put in place but they are usually not
enforced. Unfortunately, womens economic power is still severely limited and this is one
of the topics that I will highlight in my project.

Differentiating between a misogynistic culture and a misunderstood religion is a current
hot topic in the Middle East. This article discusses the importance of acknowledging
these differences because Islam is often blamed for the mistreatment of women in the
Middle East. The author questions the medias role in blurring these lines and criticizes
those who falsely portray Islam as a violent religion. The main purpose of this article is to
avoid placing the blame for violations of womens rights on the wrong group.

Web. 24 Mar. 2015. In the majority of Middle Eastern countries, women do not have the
right to drive and often have to either beg their male counterparts for rides or hiring a
rather expensive driver. The brave women in this article, however, have decided to take a
stand and record themselves driving through the streets of Saudi Arabia. The author
interviews some of these women as they discuss these demeaning law. Unlike their other
protests in previous years, the women have spread their cause through social media,
resulting in a global stand for gender equality on the road.
