Pre-assessment of current knowledge: Students will participate in a dance naming the parts of a flower to the tune of head shoulders knees and toes. Students
will also have already done another movement lesson acting out the growth and parts of a plant from seed to flower.

The teacher will collect student work samples of their
drawings. The teacher will also have a checklist of each
childs name and mark off whether they label the plant
correctly as well as how they labeled the plant. They will
also take pictures of the children while they work.

Procedural steps:
The teacher will give the students each a piece of paper as
well as crayons and markers. The teacher will ask the
students to draw a picture of the plant including all the parts
such as roots, leaves, stem, and flower. There will be a
picture of a plant for students to reference if they need a
visual.
After the students complete their pictures, the teacher will ask
them individually to label the parts of the plant either on their
own picture or on a picture given to them. If students cannot
write, they will be able to use cards will the names of each
part on them, which the teacher will read to the students.
The teacher will have a checklist which she will mark off when
students label each part of the plant.
