Joe I (1949)
Joe I was the first atomic bomb that Russia had developed.
Russia was able to create this replica of the fat man bomb
because of a spy named Klaus Fuchs who was involved with
in the Manhattan project. The Joe I had a yield of about 22
kilometers. The USSR will not test another Atomic bomb for
about two years.
Sputnik (1957)
Sputnik was the first man made satellite to orbit the earth.
The Sputnik satellite was the item that had started the raise
to space between the US and the USSR. Sputnik was
Russias way of getting other nations to look at it as a new
supper power in the world.
Salt I (1972)
Salt I was the first talk/treaty to put limitations and rules on
some of the weapons that the SU and the US had. Also
both sides agreed to lower the amount of nuclear and
atomic bombs.
Salt II (1979)
The Salt II agreement was made so that both sides would
have an equal number of nuclear delivery vehicles, reduce
the number of the vehicles, and to restrict the amount of
these that could be produced.
Glasnost (1985)
Glasnost means openness rightfully so because Glasnost
increased openness and transparence in government
institutions and activities in the Soviet Union.
Perestroika (1985)
Perestroika was a program of economic, political, and social
restructuring, became the unintended catalyst for
dismantling the totalitarian state.
