TheRegimentSymphonicBandisHHSslargestmusicalensemble.The
ensembleconsistsofstudentsfromeachhighschoolgradeandincludesstudents
ofdifferingskilllevels.Thefocusofsymphonicbandistoplaybandliterature
classics.Symphonicbandisofferedtoallhighschoolstudentswithpriormusical
playing.

TheRegimentWindEnsembleiscomposedofthetopmusiciansatHeckelHigh
School.Thebandissetinamodernwindensemblestyle.FrederickFennel
developedastyleinwhichmostofthebandisoneplayeronapartexceptthat
thereisdoublingandtriplingofclarinetandthatthereare7trumpetsused.The
WindEnsembleplayschallengingpiecesofnearlyeverymusicalstyleandtime
period.AuditionsfortheWindEnsembleareopento10th,11th,and12thgrade
students.

BocalBugleBand

CourseDescription:
TheBocalBuglebandhasalonghistorywiththeDoubleReedRegiment.The
bandhasbeenanactivepartoftheprogramsinceourbeginningsin1968.TheBB
Bandplaysjazzstandardsaswellasmodernjazzmusicoftoday.TheBocal
BugleBandiscomposedofupperlevelmusicianswhohaveeitherplayedinJazz
bandbeforeorhavewonthepositionthroughanappropriateformalaudition
process.

CourseDescription:
ReverbRhapsodyisanewlyformedensemblethatiscomprisedofafull
percussionensembleandelectronicinstruments.Thegroupplacescontemporary
music,newcompositions,andpopmusicarrangements.Mostpercussioniststryto
takethiscourseinadditiontoanotherbandcourseiftheirschedulepermits.There
areweeklyafterschoolrehearsalsforthosewhoarenotabletotaketheinclass
course.

CourseDescription:
TheultimategoalofAPMusicTheoryisthedevelopmentofastudentsabilityto
recognize,understand,anddescribethebasicmaterialsandprocessesofmusic
thatareheardorpresentedinascore.Thecourseemphasizesandfocuseson
aspectsofmusicsuchasharmony;moreoften,however,itintegratesaspectsof
melody,harmony,texture,rhythm,form,musicalanalysis,elementary
compositionand,tosomeextent,historyandstyle.Musicianshipskillssuchas
dictationandotherlisteningskills,sightsinging,andkeyboardharmonyare
consideredanimportantpartofthetheorycourse.Thestudentsabilitytoread
andwritemusicalnotationisfundamentaltosuchacourse.Itisalsostrongly
recommendedthatthestudentwillhaveacquiredatleastbasicperformanceskills
invoiceoronaninstrument.
