Final Portfolio Peer Workshop:

Criteria for this workshop:

Read the reviewer memo from the writer first.

Write a 100 word (minimum) note detailing the strengths of each page and areas where it
could benefit from improvement. Each note should specifically address the additional
content on the page, meaning the introduction to the page and the description for each
item. You may also include comments about the layout and arrangement of items;
however, this should not be your main focus.
Complete the rubric below.

2 peer workshops must be submitted by Wednesday, April 22 at 9:30 AM in order to receive

full credit for the workshop. No late workshops will be accepted.

Home
I really liked the picture that you chose as your background. It has a very warm and welcoming
feel to it. I also liked how you used the button text to refer me to the About section. However, I
do not see enough on this Home page to write a good reflection on it. My one suggestion
would be to combine the Home and the About into one section. You could also scatter the
button text tabs throughout your portfolio to keep the viewer reading.
About
This page was very well written. The text is easy to read and that makes everything easier. You
included just enough information that the reader can feel like they know about you before
looking through your portfolio. I also liked how you included not only little facts about yourself,
but you also included some facts about the class and what the reader should expect to see in your
portfolio. The last sentence doesnt really make sense. Maybe say, I hope you learn from it,
because not including that it can be confusing to the reader. Also, this portfolio is basically the
final project so using past-tense wording would probably be more efficient. (Ex: I am currently
taking)
Discussion Forums
I thought you gave a great introduction to the topic of discussion forums. I also liked how you
included the document and then included a description of the assignment. Doing this keeps the
reader involved as well as engaged because they are learning about each individual assignment.
Doing this also helped guide my eye through your page. However, according to the rubric, you
will need to include 5 discussion replies as well. Whether you include them threaded amongst
your posts or at the end, make sure that you do include them so you dont get points counted off
of your final grade. Another good thing about this page is that you chose forums from the course
that were different and that had benefitted you in someway.
In Class Assignments
First, in your introduction, the last word greatly seems a little exaggerated. I think if you use a
word such as continually or consistently or a word along those lines will make more sense. I
think you may need a little more of a description on what the Letter to Olivia really was and why
we were asked to write that. You only included one in-class assignment so make sure that you are
getting another one ready to put in there. Also, there are only four daybook entries and we are
required to have five. There is a typo error in the description of daybook entries. Again, I liked
how you threaded in descriptions of the assignments but I think your introduction paragraph
could be stronger for this page.

Micro-Ethnography
In your introduction, make sure that you are using past tense (Ex: this semester is the was). I
also think that you shouldnt include the words micro-ethnography everywhere. An example is
on the first draft peer workshops. Your reader will already know what project you are covering
the information on, so there main purpose will be the peer workshop title. Make sure that you get
you field notes and interview questions uploaded. I know that you have a description of these
items but including the documents will help your reader understand the assignment better. Also,
dont forget your final draft.
Genre Analysis
For this page, you did include every document that is required except for the revision workshop
and the final draft. Remember, if you include Olivias comments for the second draft, you do not
have to include an additional copy of the second draft. I think there was another issue with this
on another page but just keep that in mind when you are uploading your documents. She
discussed that in class today but I just wanted to remind you of it. I think your introduction could
be stronger here. I know on my site I just gave an overview but I think your readers would like
you to get more personal with your descriptions.
Reflections/ Portfolio Contents
I definitely think that you should write more about the midterm reflection. Draw your reader in.
This page started off a little blank and then just jumped into the midterm reflection. You want
your reader to keep reading so adding those descriptions and drawing your reader will be more
successful. Also, dont forget to include your final draft. I would like you to spice things up on
this page and throughout your portfolio. I know this was just a checkpoint and mine is also plain,
but I am eager to play around with this site to make it personal and creative. What can you do to
make yours better?
