Final Portfolio Peer Workshop Anthony Grant

Criteria for this workshop:

Read the reviewer memo from the writer first.

Write a 100 word (minimum) note detailing the strengths of each page and areas where it
could benefit from improvement. Each note should specifically address the additional
content on the page, meaning the introduction to the page and the description for each
item. You may also include comments about the layout and arrangement of items;
however, this should not be your main focus.

COMMENTS:
Home Page: I like your home page, I think that you did a good job with the
introduction because you are giving an explanation of everything that will
happen in the portfolio. However, check your writing in some places because
a few sentences are confusing. I would re-write these sentences: This is a
writing portfolio that will encompass everything large portions of assignments
and writing that I completed while in this class; the areas of writing I was
worried about became better over time. They are a little confusing and I think
you can make them sound better. Maybe finish your introduction with a better
conclusion. Also, the picture on the top is a little weird. I would advise you to
leave it blank and get an image with better quality for the big one behind the
black box.
Genre Analysis Page: The introduction to the Genre Analysis itself is good,
but I think you need to check the redaction of the definition of genre because
is worded weirdly. Maybe you can explain a little bit more about why you
decided to choose satirical websites as your genre. As you also know, it will
be better if you write the description for each paper below/over it and I think it
would look good if you get to write tittles for each one. I would like it better if
all the papers were the same size, or if they will be different sizes you could
organize it better.
Daily Activities Page: I think that you should write one small paragraph, like
only a few sentences, talking about why you selected each daybook activity:
What did you like about it? Was it fun to write about it? What about the
discussion in class for this activities, did you participated or did you like
someone elses comment? Out of that, I think is a good page. I know why you
did only one paragraph on the top, and even when it is well structured, I think
that you will easily do the small introductions for each daybook activity
because you have the ideas. If want / can, put tittles on each one too. Same
thing than before: Try to find pictures with better definitions to make your
portfolio look prettier.
Class Activities Page: So, ok I know we are only supposed to place two
activities in this section but you have to make it look more entertaining. Write
2 different paragraphs, I would advise you to include a tittle for each one, and

write about what was the purpose of that particular activity. Then, I think that
you can also add things like if you like the activity, or what did you learned
from it, or how was your experience while doing this in the classroom was it
fun? Was there a discussion about it?). The introductory paragraph could be a
little longer too, but in general I think that those first two sentences get the
information that you want to add.
Micro Ethnography Page: I know you did your micro - ethnography in a
burgers restaurants, but maybe you can find a better picture for your header
because it doesnt match like your portfolio in general. I would advise you to
write down why you decided to select this particular group to study as a
discourse community. You have many pages in here, organize them in a
timeline and explain what is each one of these pages and they helped you to
develop your micro ethnography and try to give a guide for the reader,
because right know you can feel kind of lost looking at it even when you have
the big paragraph on top.
Reflections Page: I like that you are saying that your reflections are a really
written from an honest perspective, I think you should definitely keep that in
the first paragraph. Create some kind of division between the midterm
reflection and all the pages for the final reflection, because even when both of
them are reflections these are different kinds of reflection and they show a
different progress, different concerns and they were written in a different
timeframe for the class. In the paragraph that you have there really arent
many explanations about how did you feel when writing these two reflections
or if this was a good learning experience.
Forums Page: You used a really god organization in this section, I like the
work you did. I think that you could include in the paragraph that is on top of
the page where you posted the forums. In this case is moodle, but most of
your audience probably wont know what that is so I suggest that you explain
that a little bit because it will give a good background for this page of your
portfolio. Also, there are some of the forum posts that dont have and
explanation directly on top of it and it gets really confusing, specially in the
one that you are talking about the video that we watched about texting. Other
two posts below have the same problem.
Complete the rubric below.
