SUMMARY
My name is Miranda Leonetti and I am in the process of attaining my Bachelor of Education at the
University of Windsor. I am an enthusiastic, compassionate teacher candidate, specializing in English at
the Junior/Intermediate level. My school placements and volunteer experiences have been very valuable
in exposing me to various teaching roles and responsibilities. I strive to be a teacher that inspires others
and gives back to the same WECDSB educational community that has motivated and shaped me into the
lifelong learner I am today.

My fourth and final practicum was in Mrs. Deanna Thompsons grade seven class at Holy Name
Catholic Elementary School. During this placement, I took on an entire science unit on heat in the
environment, a math unit on geometry, a literacy unit on summarizing, and a religion unit on living a moral
life. In addition to that, I taught physical education, dramatic art, and computers.
CORPUS CHRISTI CATHOLIC MIDDLE SCHOOL
Practicum #3: Student Teacher for the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board
My third practicum was in Mrs. Laura Zuechs grade seven class at Corpus Christi Catholic
Middle School. During this placement, I took on an entire literacy unit on fears and phobias. I engaged the
class by incorporating dramatic arts into my lesson plans, which kept the class alert and participating. In
addition to literacy, I taught math and rotary geography. I feel very fortunate for having been placed at
Corpus Christi, for I was able to experience a one-to-one schooleach student had a Chrome Book. This
brought technology in the classroom to a whole new level, for the students always had a device at their
fingertips to research or submit an assignment electronically.
My second practicum was in Ms. Linda Simetics grade six class at St. John the Baptist Catholic
Elementary School. During this placement, I took on an entire math unit on measurement. I absolutely
loved it! My excitement for the subject matter got the students excited about it too, which created a highly
engaged environment during the daily 100 minute three-part math block (minds on, action, and
consolidation). In addition to teaching math, I created Literacy Centers with a cross-curricular component
of Religion and the Christmas celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. I also led guided reading sessions
with groups of students and assessed them on their reading and discussion. Furthermore, I helped
design, teach, and display a Literacy/Social Studies/Visual Art cross-curricular cumulative project. Lastly,
I assisted my associate during Boys Basketball tryouts and assisted in putting together a school mass my
class was hosting.
ST. JOHN VIANNEY CATHOLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Practicum #1: Student Teacher for the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board
My first practicum was in Mr. Kristin Kobielskis grade eight classroom at St. John Vianney
Catholic Elementary School. The main subjects I taught were Geography, Family Life, and Physical
Education, with some Mathematics and Visual Art. For three of the days at placement, my grade eights
were on a field trip to Muskoka Woods, so I took the initiative to collaborate with a fellow student teacher
in a grade five class and team-teach. During those three days, I taught Visual Art, Literacy, and Physical
Education.
ST. PETER CATHOLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Co-Op Student for the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board

January 2009
In grade twelve I was a co-op student in Vanessa Coronas grade seven/eight split class at St.
Peter Catholic Elementary School. I spent the afternoon in her classroom each day from September to
January. Vanessa Corona was the first person to expose me to the world of teaching and inspired me to
follow my dreams of becoming a teacher. She introduced me to rubrics and assessment and challenged
me to create my very first science unit testsone for the grade sevens on Interactions Within
Ecosystems and one for the grade eights on Cells, Tissues, Organs, and Systems. Additionally, she
introduced me to the concept of cross-curricular assignments. As a result, I created my first poetry
assignment that contained reading comprehension, writing, oral presentation, and visual art. Lastly, this
co-op placement provided me with hands-on experience working in an intermediate split classroom. I was
able to glean from Ms. Coronas class management styles of diving her time between the two grades.
