Good day teachers,

After listening to your concerns and suggestions regarding the schedule for our Afterschool tutorials, we have
been able to narrow down two options that are feasible. We would like to ask for your input once again.

The first option is the schedule that was presented to you during our PD on Monday, January 5th , 2015.
Contemplates 1-hour sessions twice a week for Reading (Mon & Wed) and Math (Tue & Thu) and a 1-hour
session for Writing G4 or Science G5 (Fri). For this option the tutorials will run from 3:50PM to 4:50PM Monday
through Friday.

The second option contemplates 2-hour sessions once a week for Reading (Tue), Math (Wed), and Writing
G4/Science G5 (Thu). This alternative will require teachers to stay only one day a week or two days (if you
teach Writing G4 or Science G5). It does not require to stay on Fridays or Mondays. Also, parents will have to
make arrangements for transportation only up to three times a week as opposed to 5 days a week (For students
who need to stay for tutorials in more than one subject). The tutorials will run from 3:50PM to 5:50PM
Tuesday through Thursday.

Please vote NO if you want to keep the original schedule (Option 1) or YES if you want to adopt the
alternative schedule (Option 2).

We will still need 2 Regular, 1 Bilingual, and 1 Sped teachers per grade level except (Sped for G3).

If you are not a classroom teacher or a teacher from another grade level and are receiving this
email please also vote as we are trying to have additional teachers for tutorials in case of any
contingency.

I will announce the results of this survey on Monday afternoon.

Tomorrow we will be starting our afterschool tutorials. The tutorials are only for 3rd , 4th , and 5th grade and will be

Reading tutorials on Tuesday Mar 31 st will be cancelled due STAAR Testing.

G4 Teachers can make up the missed day by tutoring their reading groups on Thursday April 2nd as
they would have already taken the Writing STAAR by then.

All other days will run according to schedule Wednesday 4/1/15 Math G3-G5 and Thursday 4/2/15
Science G5.

Ms Arciniega,

I have 3 parents emailing/calling because their child was not selected for the after school tutorials.
However, those are the same children that I selected to work with the interventionist.

These 3 students are low and having them be in the afterschool tutorials will slow the pace of the
teaching. I would like to accommodate the parents though. So would it be possible to have the 3
students attend on a trial basis, to see if they would do alright with the tutorial group, as well as
keeping them in the interventionist group?

Also, are there materials for the tutorials tomorrow?

After-school tutorials have come to an end. All the funds have been depleted at this point. This is
our last week and I want to truly thank you for your hard work, commitment, and dedication. I know
how hard it has been taking time away from family and friends to continue helping our students

Good day teachers,

As we are getting ready to start another week after a well-deserved
three-day weekend, it is our intention to begin after-school tutorials
("Dragon Academy") and intervention groups next week (Jan 19th to the
23rd). I passed around a form for you to write down the names of the
students you want to recommend for the after-school tutorials and to
work with our reading and math interventionists (and Science for G5).
The idea is to have struggling students as priority for working with the
interventionists and bubble students as priority for staying in the
afternoons for tutorials. If you have not done so already, please place
the forms in my box in the front office or in room 604.
For your after-school tutorials you will be able to invite 8-10 students
(this will imply around 4-5 students per class if you are
team-teaching). The minimum amount of students you will need in your
classroom at any given after-school tutorial day is 6. I will be passing
out the After-school tutorial forms tomorrow so you can send them to
parents.
We will be adopting Option #2 for our afterschool tutorials with a two
hour session once per week. The tutorials will start promptly at 3:50PM
to 5:50PM. Tuesday - Reading, Wednesday - Math, and Thursday - Science.
If you decide to work as an afterschool tutor, you will need to fill out
and submit the attached form to me today or tomorrow (This form is
required for our Title I records). I will let you know your final
assignments and groups once I finish compiling the list of students.
We will have our interventionists working with students experiencing the
most difficulties. As per Title I guidelines, interventionists cannot
work with more than 6 students at a time. The interventionists will
pull-out or push-in students in your classroom to work with them during
the corresponding content block. We will have one interventionist for
Reading (G3-G5), one for Math (G3-G5), and one for Science (G5). They
will work with student groups for 35-40 minutes at a time (Schedules
will be posted once the names of students are compiled).
