EIP Reflection
My idea for my proposal was consistent throughout my extended research. I mainly
focused on the differences between the artistic era of the Renaissance and the Impressionist era.
Later my question went in depth into the aspects of the artistes and the styles and techniques they
utilized during their prime. I believe what separated the two periods where mainly based on these
two criterias. When researching for information, I aimed from influential artistes as well as their
specialization. I also found some art work during their time to use as a reference for their style of
art. Other than that, I do not think I could have gone any further with my research.
The requirement was at least five sources, half was citations were basically useless. The
sources that helped me the most with my research were those that contain what the Renaissance
and the Impressionist era was about. Any sources containing an in depth analysis of the two
artistic ages where useful for my research paper. The peer reviewed sources where of no use
because it only provided a broad overview of my topic. Finding illustrations of the two ages
where actually useful, it gave me a visual understanding of how the techniques used look like.
What surprised me about my research were the roots of art. Art has been present for
decades; it does not have any origin. Art is progressive, there is always innovation in art and that
is evident by the artistic eras. I was not expected to learn much, but after I have done my
research I found some interesting details between the periods. Influences of the first generation

were essential to producing now methods of art created by the younger generations. My findings
kept me on track with what my essay was centralized on, so my research did not change.
What I find most challenging when writing the research paper was structuring the paper
in a certain format as well as trying to make the essay flow. I resolve the problem by following a
guideline set in the research book. Writing in first person was not a problem for me; in the
research section I used a third person view and for the other sections I used first. I felt relieved
when I finally finished my essay but the most rewarding part about finishing it was actually
learning something new.
This inquiry project is similar to every other research projects I have except I tried
something different for this one. I tried writing the body paragraph for the first time and it
worked out smoothly. Writing the body paragraphs first, made every part easier since I can use
the body as a reference for other parts of the paper. There is always something to be gained from
every task and for this research project I learned more about the research process as well as more
details from the Renaissance and Impressionist period.
