Summary
I am an experienced school administrator with a demonstrated record of success in a variety of leadership
positions in the K-12 system. With 16 years of administrative experience leading teachers, engaging staff and
students, implementing effective programs and transforming school cultures. I have led a number of school,
district and provincial initiatives in the areas of school culture, educational leadership and professional learning
communities. I currently sit on the Board of Directors for the BC Principals' and Vice-Principals' Association
and was recognized as one of Canada's Outstanding Principals by the Learning Partnership.

Lake Trail Middle School is a Grade 7 - 9 School in the heart of Courtenay, BC. The school has a rich history
in the Comox Valley and is known for providing a supportive and positive learning environment for all
students.
Principal at Ecole Puntledge Park Elementary
August 2010 - February 2015 (4 years 7 months)
o With the input of staff members through surveys and discussions we have created a new Growth Plan
model that reflects our collaborative work and our interest in implementing more Assessment for Learning
strategies. o Established The Puntledge Way as a social responsibility tool that encapsulates our current
code of conduct, the Wits program and the Six Pillars of Responsibility. o Created a Professional Learning
Community model by creating collaborative planning time for teachers embedded in the timetable.
Principal at Arden Elementary School
August 2007 - August 2010 (3 years 1 month)
Developed a schoolwide Universal Design for Learning model for the school through the acquisition of
provincial SET-BC grant. Developed a Professional Learning Community Model by building into the
school day collaborative planning time for primary and intermediate teachers. Initiated and developed the
Boost Learning Support Program for grey area students to support their learning needs. Initiated and
developed a strategic framework for the consistent implementation of school-wide assessments. Created
a highly successful Boys Book Club program to engage reluctant intermediate readers. Initiated and
developed a school wide goal setting program to encourage students to set, monitor and maintain individual
learning goals.

August 2005 - August 2007 (2 years 1 month)
Acting Principal of Courtenay Elementary School (May 28 June 30) CVSAA representative on the
Courtenay Elementary and Arden Elementary School Closure committees. Developed the revised HouseAdvisory model and instituted the Health and Career Education portfolio program. Developed a Literacy 7
course to support student learning in reading and writing. Initiated the District 6 + 1 Writing Program for
English teachers as part of our growth plan initiative.
Vice-Principal at Courtenay Middle School
August 2001 - August 2005 (4 years 1 month)
Provided leadership responsible for the development, staffing and opening of Courtenay Middle School.
Developed school initiatives in the areas of critical thinking, student leadership, curricular integration and the
development of successful, collaborative teacher teams. Initiated and developed the Help Centre model as a
behaviour intervention support.

Coordinated house activities, monitored student progress and provided leadership to House staff members.
Provided curricular leadership in the areas of math and physical education. Assisted in coordinating the

As a DI Team Manager I have had the pleasure of taking a local team to compete in the Service Challenge
at the Destination Imagination Globals in 2013. The team finished in 18th place in the Secondary Level
competition in Knoxville, Tennessee.
School District Liaison at United Way Comox Valley

For 6 years I served as a committee member of the Comox Valley United Way. In that time our local chapter
looked after fundraising and distributing funds to service organizations throughout the Comox Valley,

"We Can" Official Music Video
February 2013 to Present

Produced the official music video with videographer Zac Whyte and singer/songwriter Jesse Ruben for
Jesse's song, "We Can". Each year the students at cole Puntledge Park Elementary School in Courtenay,
British Columbia, Canada complete a self directed project called "I Can," inspired by Kiran Bir Sethi in
India. As a group, Puntledge kids used Jesse Ruben's song "We Can" as daily inspiration. Brooklyn, New
York based Jesse Ruben was invited to fly across the continent to make a special appearance at the school.
This is the story of that day.

the membership about possible changes to the BCPVPA Constitution.
Design for Change
January 2013 to Present

Design for Change equips children with the tools to be aware of the world around them, believe that they
play a role in shaping that world,and take action toward a more desirable, sustainable future. Using the I
Can mindset, students identify a need in the community and mobilize to address that need. Currently, there
are several million children worldwide who have worked on improving their community through the I Can
model. Ecole Puntledge Park is currently the only Canadian school to have a formal partnership with Design
for Change.
Oxford Round Table
March 2015 to Present

Produced and edited a video outlining the innovative practises in the Comox Valley School District that was
presented at the Oxford Round Table Conference by school district trustee, Dr. Peter Coleman. The purpose

of the Oxford Round Table is to promote education, art, science, religion, and charity by means of academic
conferences and publication of scholarly papers. This Round Table is held at Harris Manchester College in
the University of Oxford.
