Global Issue/Challenge -Samuel Leville

Describe the issue you are addressing in two sentences
Sea turtles are losing their habitat and are dying because of it. This is because their
nesting beaches are eroding from extreme weather and ocean levels rising.
Evidence of Issue/Challenge Christian Peterson
In a brief, well-written paragraph, explain how this is a problem and convince audience why it needs
to be solved. This needs to include specific and compelling evidence.
Our problem is the destruction of sea turtle habitats. As sea turtle nesting beaches are
destroyed, sea turtles die without a place to lay their eggs. This means that sea turtles will
eventually go extinct, and one of the oldest species on the planet will die. Sea grass, which
produces 10 liters per day will not be regulated, and ocean creatures will not be able to eat it or
live in it. As a result, more creatures will go extinct, which means that sharks and other predators
will attack more humans for lack of a better food supply.
Action plan- Samuel Leville @ Jack Schauer
Describe your plan to address this issue/challenge in four sentences
We will use our money to create posters and a presentation on sea turtles. On these
posters we will advertise donations to turtle organizations. During the presentation, we will tell
people about the conditions turtles are living in and the problems that they are currently facing.
Towards the end, there will be shop with turtle related items that we sell and donate the profit to
organizations. The rest of the money we have will go to a walking event that people can sponsor
and walk for to give money to organizations.
Project Goals Christian Peterson

Describe what you hope to accomplish with this plan

1. Cut down on burned trash
2. Raise money to support sea turtles

Publicity Christian Peterson

How do you plan to share your project and its impact with the broader community and draw
attention to your work?
Through posters, artwork, presentations, and speeches
Sustainability Christian Peterson
How will you sustain your solution? Describe how your Knowledge to Action plan can continue, even
if your team does not continue to be involved
.
We will instruct others on how and what to recycle, raise awareness about the plight of
sea turtles in our community, and help to create volunteer beach clean-up programs.
Challenges Christian Peterson/Sam Leville
What are potential obstacles to your success? Outline any challenges that you may come across as
you put your plan into action. How do you plan to overcome these challenges?
Our main obstacles to our success are people not participating in the events that we have
planned to raise awareness, people not helping to raise money, people in Hawaii not participating

in our volunteer beach cleanups. We plan to overcome these obstacles by trying to make our
presentations and events more inclusive so people are included in them.
Evidence of Success/Evaluation Christian Peterson
Describe how you will know that your project has been successful. How will you know that you are
making an impact on the problem you seek to address? How will you collect the information needed
to tell whether you have been successful?
We will know this project has been successful when people begin to talk about sea turtles
and take action to help them. We will also know we have been successful by the rising recycling
rates at Breck, and through the gradually rising amount donations to help sea turtles. We will
collect information by taking surveys.
