Writing my Philosophy of Education taught me a lot about myself as a teacher. I thought I was
unsure about how I would run a classroom, but as I expressed my thoughts about classroom
procedures, teaching styles, discipline, and student relationships, I realized that I had stronger
beliefs than I thought and my philosophy manifested in front of my eyes. This assignment
addressed goals involving reflecting on your own practices and how you believe a classroom
should be run, as well as how you would include all diversities into a culturally responsive
classroom. I realized that one of the main principles of my teaching philosophy is to provide my
class with a nurturing and supportive environment where all students feel comfortable and
motivated to learn.
NJ Professional Standards addressed:

Human Growth and Development

Diverse Learners
Learning Environment
Professional Development

Teaching philosophies should contain a piece of all the professional standards, but I listed a few
of the most important because they focus on understanding child development, culturally
responsive teaching, the importance of a positive and motivating environment, and the
importance of ever-evolving personal and professional development. All of those things will
continue to progress as I embark on a new teaching career, and evolve over time into an
experienced and well-versed teacher.
