What does it mean to be a Good Citizen?

Objective:
The students will be able to list characteristics of a good citizen. They will also be
able to understand how they can be a good citizen of our school.
Content Standard:
Rules exist in different settings. The principles of fairness should guide rules and
the consequences for breaking rules.
Instructional Material:
Paper, markers, pencils, laptop
Step by Step Procedures:
1. First engage students by asking them what they think a good citizen is. Also
ask what a good citizen of our school would look like.
2. Next give examples of what a good citizen would look like in our town and
also in our school. After giving a few examples show good citizen video.
3. Ask students if they can give any more examples of how we could be a good
citizen within our school.
4. Hand out pictures work sheet and explain to students the directions. Then
give the students time to complete the worksheet. When students are
finished go over the worksheet as a class to see if students understand what
being a good citizen in school looks like.
5. Finally ask students to draw their own picture of them being a good citizen
within the school. When students are finished assist them in hanging the
picture on the back wall of the classroom.
Formative Assessment:
When I ask students to complete the worksheet that I made for them see if they
understand it. As we go over it as a class I will be able to evaluate how the students
are doing on the subject.

Summative Assessment:
The final summative assessment will be the pictures that each students draws. This
will be a great way to see if the students understand how they can be a good citizen
of our school.
Academic Vocabulary:
Citizen - This word will be explained during the first procedure when I introduce it to
the class.
