PROCEDURE AND ACTIVITIES

1. PRE-ACTIVITY:
We will read Officer Buckle and Gloria as a class, and then have the kids
recall key details within the story. Also, we will retell the beginning,
middle, and the end.

TIME ALLOCATIONS
15 minutes

Transition: I will dismiss them back to their seats and introduce Officer
Muntean.
2. ACTIVITY
Officer Muntean will talk with the students about being a policeman and
how important it is to follow the rules and stay safe.

15 minutes

Transition: We will go over the different stations and split up into groups
3. POST ACTIVITY
-Stations:
1. Math: Counting the ten frames and matching it with the correct
number badge as a group. Using the clothespin and math cards, the
students will count and determine how many objects.
2. Writing: The students will create their own rule and write it on their
own star. We will then post them on a big poster. Once they are finished
writing, they will match upper and lowercase letters together and put them
in order.
3. Craft: The students will make themselves as a police officer with
Officer Muntean. We will then add their craft as the border around the
poster paper.
4. Read to Self: Students will find a spot throughout the room and use
the books in their book box to practice their reading strategies and sight
word recognition.

15 minutes at each station (60

minutes)

Closure: The class will thank Officer Muntean for spending the afternoon
with us and clean up our stations. We will also hang up our poster outside
the room.
ASSESSMENT
I will use observation to see if my students can recall key details in the story and different key features.
The ten frame worksheet will be used as an assessment to see if our kids understand ten frames and counting.
I will use observation and prompting to help them write their sentence and rule on their star.
