Field of Dreams
Seton Hall University effectively influences student to continue chasing their dreams
within the medical field, by demonstrating how their university can aid them in becoming the
best doctor they can possibly be. Within the universitys advertisement, multiple rhetorical
concepts are used to intrigue and capture the attention of prospect students. The use of ethos,
pathos and logos leads one yearning to discover more of what the school has to offer them as
they strive to be within the medical field. Various depictions of hands-on trainings, above
average academics, and outstanding patient care, shown within their ad, persuade medical
students to be apart of something greater.
The advertisement applies logos, ethos, and pathos to get students interested in the
medical field. Logos used reason to attract their audience; it is commonly used in advertisements
to refer to how they prove to be a good school. Ethos persuading by using perceived credibility
to see how well they portray themselves they look like professionals even though they are still
studying, along with pathos persuading with emotion and appeal to the audience.
Seton Hall is a private institution located in the town of South Orange in New Jersey
miles from Manhattan. For more than 20 years Seton Hall University has had their Pre-Medical
and Pre-Dental program. They stay true to Catholic Education. They have over 90 courses and
10,000 students. They offer a variety of courses such as school of law, college of arts and
sciences, college of nursing school, school of health and Medical

Sciences and many more. They have helped students to be accepted into medical and dental
fields as well as other graduate and professional schools.
Ethos is used in this advertisement in how professional the advertisement looks as a
whole. As well as how the students look dressed in their uniform and scrubs and stethoscope,
well prepared for the workforce and very confident. In the advertisement I can see how they
enjoy their workplace by the way the workers talk to their patience. The credibly is shown as
well in how many years they have been around. Since 1856, Seton Hall University has been a
known for their leadership, and developing the whole student, in mind, heart and spirit.
Logos is portrayed in showing how great the school is because the majority of the
graduates find work in the New York and New Jersey area, and they get to explore many campus
organizations before going out to get a job. The way they talk about the university their tone and
how inviting they speak in their advertisement is very appealing. They have been ranked in 2015
in the Best Colleges in National Universities.
Pathos is portrayed in how they speak to their patience, with care and kindness. Their
patience look very happy with a smile as well as the student doctors themselves. The
environment is very nice and friendly. It shows the learning environment, which is one of the
reasons as to why one should join their medical school, and what is needed in order for success.
You can see not only how heartwarming is through the mind but also the heart.
