InTASC Standard and Description

Standard #5: Application of

Content
The teacher understands how to
connect concepts and use
differing perspectives to engage
learners in critical thinking,
creativity, and collaborative
problem solving related to
authentic local and global issues.

Description
By developing this presentation I
have researched pros and cons
of educational and student
academics; I have looked and
viewed different perspectives of
this global issue. I will provide
information over these different
perspectives of Common Core
Standards and No Child Left
Behind in this presentation.

Rationale

To document my understanding of the InTASC Standard, I have

decided to provide a presentation over how educational and
student academics are considered to be a contemporary issue
within the education field. I believe this will help me become
better in my field, because I am able to research what is going
on in the the career path that I want to go into. I plan on using
the information I learn to help me become a better teacher in
the future.

Background Information
Over the years, the government has changed how and
what teachers are suppose to teach. This has caused a lot
of controversy. Many teachers and students have a
problem with what the government wants to be done. No
Child Left Behind and Common Core Standards has
caused controversy and debate to whether or not it is a
good idea or not.

Common Core
Building on the best of existing state
standards, the Common Core State
Standards provide clear and consistent
learning goals to help prepare
students for college, career, and life.
The standards clearly demonstrate
what students are expected to learn at
each grade level, so that every parent
and teacher can understand and
support their learning. (Read the

How do you feel about

the testing concept within
No Child Left Behind? Do
you believe that students
should have to be tested
nation wide?

What is your view on the

Common Core Standards?
Do you believe it is right
of the government to only
provide money to those
schools who except the
Federal Standards?
