This article was very useful in giving me many of the statistics I needed to back
my research. It is hard to find stats on this subject since it is a relatively new area of
discussion. This is a reliable source because it was done by the Huffington post a
reliable news source. Marijuana can boost the economy in many different areas that
arent thought of. Bradford makes great points to uncover all madness that goes into
the topic.

This article puts in perspective some of the numbers of how much the government spends
on drug enforcement. Many facts are provided on how the prohibition of marijuana has affected
crime rates around the country. The economic benefits of marijuana are heavily portrayed and
how they would affect the population. According to this article prohibition has led to increased
use of marijuana in youth as well as easier access. Earleywine makes many great points about
how the prohibition model of marijuana is counterproductive.

In this Journal article published by the Harm Reduction Journal evaluates the overall
economic value of production and sale of marijuana. In this article Jon Gettman touches on the
goals of legalizing marijuana. One of these goals should be to maximize the market potential of
selling marijuana. He also claims in the article that the prohibition model is relatively unaffected
with marijuana as it was with alcohol. The article goes on to explain that to reduce use among
teenagers the elimination of the black market needs to occur through legalization.

This source mainly talked about ways that marijuana will reduce crime rates in the US. It
goes into detail about how marijuana will save states money in law enforcement as well as
increase revenue for states. It tells about how many arrests there have been for marijuana in
recent years giving a good idea of how much of tax money is spent on this issue. This source is
reliable since it is by the well-known news team at CNBC.

This article was written by NORML which stands for National Organization for
the Reform of Marijuana Laws. This organization has lobbied for the decriminalizing
and rescheduling of marijuana since the 1970s.This article goes into great depth about
how marijuana could make millions or even billions for our country. The article goes

into very specific details on how the tax revenues work. This is a reliable source but
may be somewhat biased since it is created by marijuana supporters.

This article provides most of the information about the prohibition of alcohol. The article
goes into detail about how crime escalated during the prohibition of alcohol. It describes how
gangs ran the black market and thrived with their profits. The article was uded to make a
comparison between the prohibition of alcohol and marijuana being illegal. This helped me make
valid points of how the U.S. is repeating history. This site is reliable since it is from the reputable
reporters from the History Channel.

This article was written in a well thought out assessment of both sides of the issue of
legalizing marijuana. In the article it touches on the side of people opposed to the leagalization
and discusses the arguments of those for marijuana legalization. The article goes over some of
the legislation and bills that have been passed through congress over the issue of marijuana. The
article provides a history of how marijuana laws have changed and progressed overtime. Many
terms that are associated with marijuana are clearly defined which gives a better general
understanding of what is going on in many other articles.
