scenario and write a short reflection or view the short video about each civil
rights movement and provide appropriate feedback.

After each city clicked on you will answer two questions that learned while
visiting.

Birmingham
Martin Luther King Jr. was
imprisoned for leading a march
on Birmingham that ended in the
citys police force using violent
force with dogs, electric cattle
prods, and high pressure hoses

Cameras caught the


whole scene for the
evening news and it
became a huge
spectacle for society.

On September 15, 1963


the KKK bombed the
Sixteenth Street Baptist
Church. Four young girls
were found dead beneath
the rubble in the basement
restroom.

The

March on Washington happened in


March 1963 where thousands of people
marched through Washington D.C.
fighting for job equality and freedom.

Selma

In 1965, over six hundred protestors


marched from Selma to the state capital
Montgomery fighting for voting rights.

Little Rock
In 1957, nine African
American students were
admitted into Central High
School in Little Rock, AK.
These nine students
sparked an outrage
throughout the community
and were threatened with
violence if they actually
attended the school.
The violence was so awful
that President Eisenhower
sent troops to Little Rock to
protect the new students.

Memphis
Martin

Luther King Jr. was very intent on


advocating civil rights in Memphis.
This is where the Dr. King was
assassinated outside his motel room.

Greensboro

Woolworths sit-ins began when four African


American college students decided to sit at
an all-white dining counter in Woolworths
Department Store.
Their bravery to sit in these spots sparks sitins across the south.
