What are the negative effects of physical inactivity?
Create an exercise plan using PowerPoint, including a warm up, exercises, then a cool down.

STANDARDS ADDRESSED:
Standard one- Research and evidence based.

skills.
ISTE standards.

Google and provided sites.
PowerPoint

BACKGROUND and RATIONALE:

The student will learn the importance of exercise and how it affects the body, both positively and negatively.
Using what they learn from research, the student will create a onetime exercise plan for themselves.
This builds upon the previous lesson of learning about the human body and an overview of the muscles.
I plan to use this to kick start into healthy eating habits.
While healthy exercise and healthy eating habits do work together, these sections need to be separated so the
students can focus on each more in depth.

PROCEDURES AND TIMELINE:

Introduction: I will begin with a little shock and awe, by informing the students that diseases such a
hypertension, coronary heart disease, and heart disease can all kill you. But there is a way to prevent or slow
down these diseases.
Procedures:
-The student will first begin listening to a small introduction I have devised.

-Second step, the students will be given a hand out that they must complete.
-Thirdly the students will begin research and explore the provided sites for information

-After completion of the handout, the students will begin to create an exercise plan of their own
using PowerPoint.
-This exercise plan should start off with a warm-up and stretch, move into the actual activities,
then finally closing with a cool down.
Closure: At the end of the lesson and everyone has finished their work I plan to have a small discussion asking
the students about what they have learned today about exercise.

ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE:
The student will be graded on the handout to see if there was clear understanding of the questions asked and the
proper research was done. All the students will use the same websites to find the information on the handout so
the answers should be similar.
The Prezi will be graded on completion and creativity. Also the exercise plan should include a warm up,
activity, and cool down.
MODIFICATIONS:
Some students may finish early doing their exercise plans. I would then ask these students to include even more
days.
For the students that were incapable of finishing the handout or exercise plan, I will grade according the effort
exerted by the student to finish the work assigned.
