Come to the Historical Society of Long Beach (HSLB) for a Readers Theater about the history of the
Long Beach Playhouse. Hear the voices of the past and the present as actors tell of the people, places and
events that shaped the 86-year history of one of the citys oldest arts organizations. Five actors tell the story of
the dedicated people who kept the Playhouse going for 86 years. It chronicles the transformation of a group of
actors, playwrights, and theater lovers into a dramatic arts organization that continues on today.
An original script was written for the event. Andrew Vonderschmitt (Playhouse Executive & Producing
Artistic Director), Madison Mooney (Playhouse Business & Operations Manager), Sean Gray (Playhouse
Technical Director & Production Manager), phie Mura, and Lilliana Carrillo will perform the reading.
Playhouse board member and New Works Festival chair, Anna Kate Mohler is script consultant and director.
The script was researched and written by local historian, Dr. Kaye Briegel, and Roxanne Patmor, president of
the HSLB and the Playhouse.
The event will be held in the HSLB gallery at 4260 Atlantic Avenue in Long Beach. Tickets can be
