Group Multimodal Project Individual Reflection
When I first learned that we were going to be working on a group project I didnt really
know how to feel. Once I learned that it was a multimodal project I was a little excited because I
worked on one in my writing class last semester. I was also quite nervous because we always do
things as a group in writing this semester but we havent done anything where everyone is
required to include their individual piece in order to complete the project as a whole. I was a
little worried that everyone wouldnt do their part and some people would do more than others.
The positives of this assignment was the fact that the project had to be made using any
multimedia of your groups choice and also how we took our individual topics and formed a
main idea when everything was put together. What I dreaded during this process was having to
worry about if people actually did their portion of the project. At the end of this process I was
proved wrong because everyone did do their part but I think some people just did the bare
minimum and I for one had to pick up their slack.
The decision making process among my group was very fair. We didnt have any
frustrating moments during our process. Everyone had an input to what was happening and the
things we choose. For example we selected the order of how we did our PowerPoint slides and
we all decided to use PowerPoint as our multimodal device. What I learned about myself as a

group member was that I like making sure everything is organized. Im not surprised by that
because I consider myself to be a leader.
I think I was the leader of my group because I took charge and basically organized
everything. I put the presentation together and was in charge of recording people. I think it
showed my true leadership abilities because I took the lead without anyone telling me to do so.
We communicated with each other through text messages because we decided to form a group
message since we all had iPhones. This method of communication worked excellent because we
are all always using our phones, therefore we communicated effectively. I believe that everything
went well during this collaboration because we work well as a group, communicate with ease
and we all included our individual portions so that we could complete the assignment.
Our final project was a PowerPoint that included different pictures on each slide with a
voice recording. To make sure that we met all the requirements we followed everything that was
listed on the assignment sheet, such as using voice recording and including a works cited. The
prior knowledge that I used during this project was my experience of using PowerPoint as well
as other multimedia devices such as Prezi, if we had selected it instead. I learned that I enjoyed
doing multimodal work because I like expressing my thoughts in another way other than just
writing. I think I did well on putting everything together but at first I struggled with figuring out
how to properly include audio on our slides. The biggest surprise to me with regard to the final
project was that fact that even though each member of my group had different topics we were
able to combine everything and actually have it flow. I dont think I will do anything different the
next time I create a multimodal project.
