Independent Technology Project

Planning Sheet
Emma Bloom
Description of project:
For my independent technology project, I would like to create a presentation about
handheld devices used to support teaching curriculum.
What technology will you use?
To create this presentation, I will use Microsoft PowerPoint to build the end result.
However, I will be presenting information about a second technology, handheld devices,
which can be used in the classroom.
What is the purpose of the end product you will create?
In one of my classes, my professor skimmed over the importance of using handheld
devices in classrooms. This sparked an interest in me, which led me to want to research
different types of devices for this project. At its completion, this project will serve as an
educational tool for professionals who can use this information to bring devices into their
classrooms as learning instruments.
Intended audience:
The intended audience for this project will be my peers, future and current professional
educators.
Information, materials and resources required: What do you need to know to
complete this and where can you find the information? (You must document all
sources consulted and used.)
I have not found all of my information, so I do not have specific resource information at
this time. However, I know I will be using internet sources to build my research and
complete this project. Through web searches and the use of my classmates bookmarks on
Diigo, I hope to find the information necessary to complete this project.
Academic and/or NETS-S and NETS-T standards this project would address:
This project will address NETS-S standard 6 (technology operations and concepts)
because the devices discussed would require students to utilize technology systems.
Additionally, it will address NETS-T standard 2 (design and develop digital learning
experiences and assessments) because teachers who use devices such as those discussed
in this presentation are implementing learning experiences through contemporary tools
and resources.

Project timeline and learning sequence:

3/29/2015 Select topic; Project plan due
4/5/2015 Select various devices to research; Collect information
4/12/2015 Begin PowerPoint; Collect information
4/19/2015 Finish PowerPoint
4/26/2015 Complete evaluation; Final project due
What is the advantage to using technology for this project rather than doing it the
old fashioned way?
Using devices is a technology in and of itself, even before the presentation. The
presentation will help to make my information more efficient and professional, while the
devices help to maximize learning. Using technology in this project makes the project
more relevant to the times, and grasps the attention of those involved.
