Task
Before:
Discuss the task with the teacher and arrange a good time to observe her
teaching a lesson. (this could be for as little as 15 minutes)
During:
Record and make notes on what the teacher and the learners are doing.
Make a table like this one, and you will focus on both what the teacher is doing
during the lesson AND what the learners (students) PARTICIPATORY LEARNING are
doing.

Summary
Find out how the teacher planned and prepared for the lesson you
observed.
She have her plan for every week , and in this week she choose Wednesday
to do water play , because they don't have lesson at the library and if they
carry a book fortunately they will cause a problem ,because their clothes
are a little bet wet .She prepared two list of two group in depend in their
age , so the young kids who are from 2 to 3 years will do water play
first ,then the group of age 3 to 4years . Also she brought newspapers to
but it on the floor while the kids are playing , and she brought sponges and
pails to transfer the water from one of the pail to anther one .
How do you plan? Do you plan weekly, daily, as part of a team or individually?
She already have a yearly plan for the curriculum , and she also plan weekly and daily for her
lessons . For example if there is an activity on the curriculum she will plan for it in the daily
plan ,but if she has a problem with her student mode in that daily plan, she can swap with the
next week plan for the same day of the week , so in the end she did what the curriculum ask her to
day and in time that her student will be able to understand the activity . And she do her plan as
part of team or individually depends of what she is going to plan for .
Do you follow a lesson plan exactly? Why or why not? She don't follow the lesson
plan exactly ,because its not possible , sometimes her students want to learn something she
didn't plan for it ,so she change her plan in what her students want .She believe in what her
teacher said the best teacher is that one who going according to the children mode not
according to the plan . The plan should be their and should be available all the time, but it
does not mean that you would be planning all the time and look to it , she will do what they
want but her involving should be their , for example if they want to learn about the flowers ,
she will go for a walk and intrudes the flower name and their colours, so she use what her
students are interesting in to teach them new vocabulary .
What do you do when the lesson does not go according to the plan?
She do what she couldn't do it in the next class , and be flexible because she teach young students
and it hard to do exactly what she planed for their lessons .
Do you ever do anything you havent planned to do? Yes ,for example she didn't prepare
for the earth day ,so when she remembered that she didn't prepared ,she went to anther
class and borrowed a torch and tent ,then she switch off the light and read a story for the
kids inside the tent .
What is important to you when planning a lesson? First of all she will looks to the
milestone of the children , where they are standing ,then the ways that she will introduce
the activities for them .
Do you plan to do the exact same thing with all the children in the classroom?
N(Why/Why not??) No , because she have to group of children one of them are
older than the other , and their interest are different , the younger like to run and
move more than the older group so their activities must be something they will
learn and move so in the end they have fun with it .
Three other questions you ask your teacher about lesson planning that you want
to know.
1. Do you think its important for the teacher to plan before the lesson ? Yes , it
important to plan before the lesson to have objective or a reason to start or to
do the lessen with the kids .For example the purpose of giving the kids time to
play is to help them to talk with each other, because not all the kids are talking
during the lesson time , so the time for playing can help them to communicate
and talk and use the new vocabulary that they learnt .
2. Dose the planing make it easy for you as a teacher to do your work ? Yes ,
because its make it clear to the teacher what she is looking to achieve in her
students . It will make her day easier and her concepts more clear for her
students .
3. Is it hard to plan for young students ? and what are the different bet ween
planning for young students and adult students ? It will be difficult for the new
teachers to plan for kids , but if they have experience and they done it before it
become easy , because each year it will be clear to them how to start , what are
the points they have to start with ,especially the milestones side .
There is a different , for example if she will teach my class she will focuses in the
learning said ,because she knew that the growth is done the students are
walking , talking , socialising , have mode and have their personal interest , so she
will just introduce the topic , then she will look who has clearly got it . But with
young students she focus in the child holistic development , that would be the
teaching side plus according to their personal social .
Arrange to attend a planning session with the teacher/team.
When is it ? next week on Wednesday at 2 pm clock .
Reflection
Answer the following questions thoroughly, not superficially. This means to think
deeply and show that you are really thinking about the importance of
preparation and planning. Use some of the information you learned form your
MST in your reflection.
