FRUITVALE STATION

Fruitvale station a true story about the fatal Oakland

shooting of unarmed young black man that arrived with almost
miraculous timing the mise en scene and the characters
contribute to the film success. Hoping to stir the public, though,
Film dances around the facts. Its first problem is how to handle its
22 year-old subject( played by Michael B. Jordan), who was a
small-time criminal who cheated on his girlfriend and had been
fired from his job at the grocery store. The film maker seemingly
to play up the audiences sympathies. The fruitvale station was
written and directed by Ryan Googler. This is Googlers frist film
feature length film and he packs it full of life and energy. The
station feels authentic in its setting and the attraction among the
characters.

The environment they live in feels dangerous and unsafe but

full of live at the same time. Sirens can often be hear on the
soundtrack like a fain warning sign of whats to come, to the
characters, its just part of their life. Some setting in doesnt looks
like its part of United Stated of America but reflect the daily life of
the ghetto members.
The color was not too bright, not too black, just like a
traditional life of a normal person, who goes day to day in pursuit
of better life. The film was edited as an independent film not like
an Hollywood movie. the film costumes was unprofessional as Mr.
Oscar himself, I believe that, they did that to saw the real content
and the real life of the main character.
Every step of length have different soundtrack to make the
audiences very anxious or to predict the content of the next step.
The cinematography was well done with much wide shot to bring
the intended audience much closer to the action, to make the
views feel the reality of the film.
The antagonist was only see in few sequence of the film but
the did create a great impact on the film till the end, that was an

amazing job of the editors in the montage sequence. Oscar and

the was audience was presented as the protagonist in the film but
I believe that not all the views are the protagonist, some might
have a different view and opinion about the main character. The
fact his there two side of Oscar, just like everyone has multiple
facets to their personality, most of us learn to control the sides
that doesnt mesh well with the society others really struggle
to do so. Michael B. Jordan delivers a powerful performance as
Oscar at impersonating. In the film I film they was some non
sense sequence or continuity error, where the dog get run over,
that shot make no sense in the film, in fact he went home with
that bloody shirt from the dog injury but no one seems to care
about it and he get home with that bloody shirt but hes
girlfriend had him change without investigating about the source
of the blood, that made clear to me, it was a hood film from a
hood life. The editors did amazing job, especially where Oscar got
shot, as viewer you really feel the tension and en anxious in every
body face. The camera was moving around accompanied the
drama sound to make the audiences more anxious.

At the very end of the film where his daughter ask her mom
about her dad, the editor give the last when the question was
asked but never get the answer form her mom. I think the ended
with that shot to make the audience share the sympathy with her,
very frustrated film. I chose this film because its reflect the reality
of the American society, the film did really inspired me in many
way. The film class really though me a lot about the early film
and also about American culture, race, sexuality and the diversity
of the American society.
