What does economy mean to you?
What does it cover?
Economy is basically a huge network that involves the production, consumption and distribution of
goods, services and the management of monetary resources in a big scale. Its importance and
influence is worldwide. Countries depend on this system because it is the way in which they obtain
and use wealth.
From my point of view, economy is something that everyone is aware of. It is a global concern,
defining the development and progress of a country. Economy has a good and bright?bad? side, a
good example is globalization. Globalization is the connection created with the trade and exchange
of services and products between countries, resulting in the unification of different economies and
the formation of a global one. It is seen as an advantage because it provides a variety of products for
the consumer to choose from, it exchanges many cultural features, and there are good opportunities
for increasing local economies.
However, there is also a bad side. Using the same example, globalization may be a threat to
countries that are not economically prepared to receive foreign marketing since larger and more
powerful companies may destroy local businesses, causing dependence on outsider countries.
Economy should be managed with wise brains that are full of solidarity. Nevertheless, countries are
governed by corrupt minds that are careless for people who are struggling on with finding better
economic opportunities. A nation should be able to give priority to local companies that could, in a
future, lead the national economy; yet, those in charge have, as a priority, bigger and wealthier
companies. How would a country prosper if there are no opportunities to grow a local economy?
Besides that, a place in which the management of financial resources is bad, it is often affected by
social problems, like poverty, hunger, inequality and even violence. This happens because the
distribution of resources is unfair, and as a result the difference between poor and rich is evident.
In conclusion, economy is something that is almost everywhere. It is essential for absolutely all
countries, and having connections with bigger economies is something advantageous. However, it
needs a good guidance and management for it to grow. Countries with not very good conditions
should be careful on deciding what to do.
