Classroom Management Plan

Welcome to the Band!


All band members are expected to conduct themselves in the utmost professional
manner, both during band activities and outside of them. Remember, you are
representing the band program as a whole and any action you may take reflects
on the organization as a whole. This document will outline policies and procedures
of the band as well as the standards to which all members are expected to adhere
to.

Member Conduct
Every band member is expected to adhere to the following:

Respectfulness and courtesy to oneself and others at all times.


Arriving on time for class, rehearsals, and performances.
Bringing all necessary materials to class every day.
Making an effort to improve every day. This includes practicing at home
every day.

Band Hall Guidelines:


All members are expected to demonstrate conduct in accordance to campus policy
even in a music setting:
All members are responsible for keeping the band hall and individual
lockers neat and orderly. This includes keeping all equipment in its
designated storage area.
Band members are welcome to practice in the band hall before and after
school, so long as there is a director present.
Food and drinks in the band hall are only allowed if specifically given
permission to eat by a band director.
Respect for the property of the school, other students, and directors is
expected. This includes not touching, handling, or borrowing another
students belongings without permission.
Only walking is permitted inside the band hall, no running or horseplay.
Cell phones should not be used or seen during games, rehearsals, or
performances of any kind.

Consequences
Disciplinary action may be chosen from the following should any infractions to the
above occur.

Verbal warning
Packing away instrument
After school detention
Student/teacher conference
Phone call to parents
Parent/teacher conference
Principal referral
Loss of marching band spot/ensemble

All students are expected to follow district/school policy in addition to the bands
code of conduct. All disciplinary action will be documented for future reference.

Students that are in good standing academically and behaviorally will be able to
participate in certain end of the year activities that may include: out of town trips,
parades, or out of school functions.

Dismissal from the program


Behavior that is not representative of the good image of the band organization as
a whole, may result in the students dismissal from the program. However, the
infringements below may result in immediate dismissal from the band program:

Violation of any Law


Destruction of band or school property
Use or possession of illegal substances
Fighting
Refusal to obey directors instructions
Severe disrespect to parents, chaperones, administrators, or directors.
