Rainforest:

Amazon:
The Amazon is the worlds largest rainforest! The Amazon covers 40%
of South America. The Amazon contains the worlds second largest river in the
world. A rainforest is forest found in tropical areas with consistent heavy rainfall.
Rainforest have a lot of biodiversity. Biodiversity means a large variety of life is
found in that area. The Amazon Rainforest is home to the largest collection of living
plants and animal species in the world. 2.5 million insect species, tens of thousands
of plants, and 2,000 birds and mammals call the Amazon their home. The Amazon is
threaten by deforestation. Deforestation is destroying the forested area and turning
it into a non-forested area. The trees are being cleared for human settlement and
farming. It is important that we do our best to preserve and protect the Amazon
Rainforest.

Grassland:
Savanna:

Grasslands are scattered with shrubs and trees. Grasslands are an inbetween ecosystem of a desert and a rainforest. Grasslands contain trees like
rainforest but do not receive enough rain to be considered a rainforest. The Savanna
is considered a rolling grassland. The Savanna has warm weather year round. Two
seasons occur in the Savanna. The first is a long dry season (winter) and a wet
season (summer). In the dry season the average rainfall is 4 inches. Between
December and February no rain fall occurs. It may seem odd but the Savanna is
cooler in the dry season than the wet season. The dry season is around 70 degrees.
In the wet season 15-25 inches of rain falls. The wet season is very hot and humid.
The Savanna is home to larges herds of grazing and hoofed animals.

Mountain:
Rocky Mountains:
The Rocky Mountains is a National Park in the United States. The
Rocky Mountains expand over 3,000 miles. The highest pike in the mountain range
is located in Colorado. The Rocky Mountains contain lots of natural resources such
as lead, zinc, copper, silver, and gold. Mining and lumbering are watched carefully
by the government to protect the mountain range. Mountains tend to have trees
along the mountain. As you get closer to the top the air cools and rain and snow
occur. The Rocky Mountains are known for big animals. The weather can change
rapidly. There is a lot of vegetation including pine trees and plants. The winters can
be brutal and cold with blizzards. The summers are full of afternoon thunderstorms.
The Rocky Mountain Range experiences 4 seasons.

Freshwater:
Great Lakes:

The Great Lakes are an example of a fresh water ecosystem. The Great
lakes are made of five Lakes. The five lakes include Lake Michigan, Lake Erie, Lake
Superior, Lake Huron and Lake Ontario. The United States and Canada are the two
countries that boarded the Great Lakes. All together the lakes contain 20% of the
earths fresh water. The lakes were formed by glaciers. It is important to maintain
the health of the Great Lakes. We can only drink fresh water and we need water to
survive. Unfortunately, the Great Lakes water quality is at risk because of industrial
waste, fertilizer, sewage, and toxic chemicals.
