Introduction

This case study is on a child named Landon. He was observed in his


home, he lives with his mother in a house. Landon is two years four months at
the beginning of this case study and two years six months at the conclusion of
the case study. He has light brown hair that has a slight curl to it, and light brown
eyes with a little green in them. Landon loves to play with cars and airplanes,
and always is carrying one with him. He weighs 33 pounds and is 39 inches in
height, which according to the CDC weight and height chart puts him in the
seventy-fifth percentile for height and the seventieth percentile for his weight.
According to his mother he has stayed in the same percentile range from birth to
now at two years and six months. According to his mother her pregnancy and
birth of Landon were both considered normal. Landon is a very energetic little
boy, he loves to be outside and his mom takes him to play outside everyday, as
long as the weather is good.
As stated above Landons physical development is what is considered
normal for his age, although he is a slightly higher percentile then what is normal.
He is healthy and very strong. He is able to walk, run, and jump along with his
mom or his friends. According to the charts and his mother he has achieved all
his physical development on schedule and on time.
Landons cognitive development is delayed for his age, although he is
enrolled in McKinneys ECI (early childhood intervention) program. He has been
enrolled in the ECI program since November 2014, and is receiving, speech
therapy, SST (special skills training), and OT (occupational therapy). According

to assessments and mom, Landons cognitive development has been making


positive progress towards getting him where he needs to be, but isnt there yet.
This will be further discussed when assessing the attached checklists.
Language development is something that Landon struggles with the most.
At this date in time he only says about five words constantly. He points and
gestures to things that he wants. Landon is participating in speech therapy once
a week and he is working on his vocabulary and language development. Mom
has also started using a picture system in the house to help Landon request
things and build his vocabulary and build his speech.
Emotionally Landon is cared for appears to have a healthy attachment to
his mother and family. He laughs a lot and he presents a happy personality on a
daily basis. He smiles and laughs when he wakes up from naps or bed time, he
also is happy when he eats or gets to have snack time.
