In Il grades, students learn songs from many cultures and work at developing their singing voices. In grade 3, students will begin learning to play the recorder, a woodwind instrument. P.S. 69 will supply the recorder and a music book. Students ill take the recorder home to practice and will be responsible for bringing it back to school on the da of their music class. Look for the new recorder by December. HIn grade 4, students will be following the Carnegie Hall curriculum “The Orchestra Moves”. They will receive a book of songs and recorder pleces that hey will study and learn throughout the year. In lay 2015, the students will attend a concert at Carnegie Hall where they will sing and play with an orchestra: ith graders will continue to learn and play the ecorder, An important goal is to play music in two r more parts to create harmony. In addition, they become proficient at reading music notation. and 5" grade students may try out for chorus at P.S. 69.
