Ms. Fiona Tyson, Principal

P.S. 086 Kingsbridge Heights School
2756 Reservoir Avenue, Bronx, NY 10468
Dear Ms. Fiona Tyson
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Haidee Garcia and I am
presently a full time Graduate Student working towards my Masters degree in Dual Childhood and
Special education with a Bilingual Extension at Manhattan College. I have been student teaching at
P.S. 86. In a second grade Inclusion Classroom and in a second grade General Education
Classroom. I also have experience as a substitute teacher. Currently, I am in a second grade special
education teacher in a General Education setting. I am confident that I have the knowledge,
credentials and experience to provide the motivation and direction students need to effectively
learn. I am prepared to serve as an instructional leader and I am committed to making a significant
contribution to the P.S. 86 school community.
Education has always been an important aspect of my life and I have always strived for academic
excellence. I was recently inducted in to the Mu sigma chapter of Kappa Delta Pi an International
Education Honor Society. My passion for teaching began at an early age and I knew that I wanted a
career that allowed me to work with children. Through the Graduate Program at Manhattan College
I have had the opportunity to do fieldwork at various schools in New York City as well as, with P.S.
86 where I engage with a diverse group of students from grades 1-6 in all subjects. As an intern at
the Son-Rise Program I was able to gain experience by assisting an Autistic child. The philosophy
and principles of the Son-Rise program focuses on: loving and acceptance, increased efficacy, and
ultimately the devotion to the uniqueness of the child. Principles that I wish to apply to my students
when I become a teacher.
These experiences make my path of becoming an educator my only plausible destination. I see
student teaching at P.S. 86 as representing a unique opportunity for me to embark on a critical new
professional chapter in my life. One in which I will be able to provide students with a positive
learning environment that welcomes exploration, enhances student's confidence and encourages
them to become successful life-long learners.
Enclosed is my resume for your consideration. Please feel free to contact me at (646) 209-8571
should you require any additional information. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Haidee Garcia
