ESLO #8:

CREATIVITY,
CURIOSITY,
IMAGINATION
Sample Academic work
By: Arlette Collado

WHAT IS THE SAMPLE ACADEMIC

PROJECT?

The sample academic work project is the

project I choose to prove ESLO 8. I choose 4
pieces of academic work that exemplify my
competence in this ESLO. I wrote an
explanation per each academic pieces of
work as well as an defense. In the defense I
explain how that academic work meet some
or all of the tenant of ESLO 8.

ART WORK #1
EXPLANATION:
This

sample works is a painting of a

hookah. The hookah is dress up like a
girl, representation how we let are idol
define how we are.
In

the painting, you can see how alcohol

is falling in her hair, this represents, how
when people are under the influence of
alcohol they cannot think well.
In the background of the picture, we
can see that there are two people who
have committed suicide by hanging
themselves.

Another

important detail of this picture

is, that the people in the back are also
naked. This representing how people
every day are wearing less and less cloth
or in other words how nudity is becoming
normal.

ART WORK #1 DEFENSE:

In this work, we see a creative composition of the

problem teens phases every day. I decided to do this
Painting, in order, to make teens reflect on what is
good and what is bad. Also, what the consequences of
their actions are. I believe that a possible solution to
this problem is the education. If we educate teens or
young adults we can make a change. This meets three
of the tenants of the ESLO 8.
First,

I learn through investigating the problem teens are

facing
Second, I envision a new and creative solution to the
problem.
Third, I express myself through the arts.

ART WORK #2
EXPLANATION:
This sample artwork is a
French memory board. I
created this work for
fashion class at my old
school in New York. I have
the memory board up in my
room with pictures of the
thing I love and some
inspiring and motivational
quotes.

ART WORK #2 DEFENSE:

This project was a way of expressing myself through art and

design, proving the four tenants of ESLO 8.
I

explore, appreciate and use the arts to express myself.

Learn through investigation how to make a memory board.
I envision new solutions to overcome the hard times
I Utilize the resources I had to implement new ideas of how to make a
memory board.

When I was making this memory board I was going throw a hard
transition. I moved from the Dominican Republic to the States. It
was a new culture, a new school, and a place where I had to make
new friends. I believe that through this project I express who I am
and how I want to become. This project enlighten me because it
open my eyes and made me discover two of my passions, Fashion
and Interior Design. When I finished my project I putted it up in
my room. This helped me overcome homesickness and culture
shock, as well as, it helped me enjoy my time in the states.

ART WORK #3
EXPLANATION:
The purpose of this project
was to find a solution to the
Israel and Palestine conflict.
A conflict that may result in
a war, if a solution is not
found. When coming up with
the solution I need to
understand the cultures
differences.

ART WORK #3 DEFENSE:

In order to envision a solution for this project, I had to learn what the
problem was, why and how did it start? When I was working on this
project I notice there is a lot of things you have to think about when it
comes to solving a problem like this. Palestinians and Israelis both
want this piece of land, but what I notice is that there is no way that
this to types of people can share this land. Right know Israelis and
Palestinians are killing each other for this land. As I see this problem I
think it would be unfair to kick someone out and let the other stay. So
for this reason I believe in a two-state solution. None of them would
be in charge of the land, but they would have to go throw some
security to visit the land, which would be in charge of the United
Nations. And both Palestine and Israelis would live in a different area.
With this project, I prove the 4 tenants of this ESLO.
Firsts,

I utilize the resources I had to help me find a solution and to help me

understand the problem better.
Second, I investigated how and why the problem started.
Third, I envision new ideas to solve the conflict
Fourth, I uses the art of writing to express my opinion on the problem.

ART WORK #4
EXPLANATION:
This essay is defending the
rights of homosexuals from a
Christian perspective.

ART WORK #4 DEFENSE:

In this essay I have proved three tenants of the ESLO 8.

I

prove that I utilize the resources at my hand to implement

new ideas the idea of a Christian defending a homosexual.
This idea is not really common because a lot of Christian
usually use the bible to prove that being a homosexual is bad.

learn through investigating what are the problems

homosexuals are facing every day. I specifically investigated
what homosexual in the Dominican Republic are going throw.
learning that a lot of homosexuals are being murder and a lot
of their rights have been banned. For example, the right to
get marry, to adopt.

When

I explored this topic I learn to appreciate this group of

people and I use this essay to express my thoughts about
what homosexuals are facing.
